MyLocalMind Inc. and FremantleMind Inc. hope to build a trusted brand that ensures participants feel safe and respected when attending any MyLocalMind Inc. or FremantleMind Inc. events, thus encouraging community members to attend mental health promotion events that they otherwise would not be confident or comfortable in attending or engaging with. MyLocalMind Inc. and FremantleMind Inc. do not intend to replace standardised community mental health treatment, nor do MyLocalMind Inc. and FremantleMind Inc. duplicate existing community mental health services. In contrast, MyLocalMind Inc. and FremantleMind Inc. work with community members and existing community mental health services in order to identify gaps in existing community mental health systems and subsequently develop and deliver services to fill these areas of service need. To date, MyLocalMind Inc. and FremantleMind Inc. have delivered evidence-based face-to-face services to hundreds of community members in Fremantle, Cockburn, and Scarborough. Moreover, MyLocalMind Inc.’s online community mental health and wellbeing forum now supports over 1,000 members.
MyLocalMind Inc. were lucky enough to receive an $11,000 grant from the Cockburn Council’s Cockburn Creates grant program in 2018. We utilised this grant to deliver our evidence-based community mental health and wellbeing services throughout the first half of 2019 completely free to the Cockburn community via the CockburnMind project. With the financial support of Cockburn Council the CockburnMind project engaged with around 200 individual members of the Cockburn community and provided almost 500 service contacts to these community members.
