Introduction to Mental Health and Wellbeing for Students

(1.5-hour session for students)

This session provides general mental health psychoeducation with a focus on wellbeing and the most common mental health conditions impacting our schools (depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicide). In addition to this, we cover signs of stress, how to manage same, and important strategies for self-care. How and when to access available school-based and community-based professional support is also covered. This content was developed based on decades of working in the mental health field with school-aged youth within and outside of school contexts.


Introduction to Mental Health and Wellbeing for Staff

(1.5-hour session for all employees)

This session provides general mental health psychoeducation with a focus on wellbeing and the most common mental health conditions impacting our organisations (depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicide). Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing in Schools

(full day or half day abridged training for all employees)

This session provides in depth mental health psychoeducation with a focus on wellbeing and the most common mental health conditions impacting our schools (depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicide). Overviews are provided of the most prominent mental health issues is provided including signs, symptoms, and management of same; the most prominent mental health resources and how/when to access same; burnout and how to manage same with good self-care. How and when to access available community-based professional support is also covered. This content was developed based on decades of working in the mental health field with school-aged youth within and outside of school contexts.


Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing for Leaders

(half day training for all employees in management or leadership roles)

This session expands on the basics covered above with additional information to educate managerial employees on how to recognise potential issues in the workplace and how best to support employees while they may be experiencing issues maintaining their mental health and wellness. This content was developed based on decades of working in the mental health field with school-aged youth within and outside of school contexts in conjunction with a Human Resources / Investor Relations specialist with significant experience successfully navigating complex industrial relations matters relating to mental health.


ADVANCED TOPICS IN MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING

Managing Aggression and Challenging Behaviours

(half day training for all employees)

This session provides an overview of challenging behaviours and psychoeducation about anger, aggression, and violence. Various management strategies are also provided, including strategies for management of aggression, strategies for resolving conflict, and postvention strategies for use after an incident. This content was developed based on decades of working in the mental health field with school-aged youth within and outside of school contexts, including with youth with offence histories and youth impacted by substance use and abuse.


Maintaining Healthy Professional Boundaries

(half day training for all employees)

This session provides an overview of boundaries, including healthy versus unhealthy professional boundaries. Strategies for establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries are also explored. This content was developed based on decades of working in the mental health field with school-aged youth within and outside of school contexts, including within the youth justice system where maintaining health professional boundaries is an essential component of successful service delivery.


Introduction to Trauma Informed Care

(full day or half day abridged training for all employees)

This session provides an introduction to trauma informed care. An overview of trauma and complex trauma is provided. Principles of trauma-informed care are discussed. Skills and strategies to for working with traumatised clients are explored. And the potential for vicarious trauma and the importance of self-care are also presented. This content was developed based on decades of working in the mental health field with school-aged youth within and outside of school contexts, including settings primarily servicing youth impacted by trauma and hence have a strong focus on trauma informed care.


Brief Advanced Topics in Mental Health and Wellbeing

(1-hour sessions for all employees)

This content is evidenced to be effective in reducing levels of depression, anxiety, stress, and overall psychological distress; the implications of which are obvious in a school setting – reduced unplanned absenteeism, positive employee retention, and high levels of discretionary employee effort as a result of feeling more supported and understood within the school:

Understanding and managing emotions
Sleep hygiene
Mindfulness
Communication skills
Conflict resolution
Managing relationships
Problem solving and goal setting

This content was developed based on decades of working in the mental health field with school-aged youth within and outside of school contexts. Each of these elements has been identified as core to the development of skills required by every individual to adequately cope with general life stressors.

DELIVERY RECOMMENDATIONS

These sessions are best delivered to less than 20 people (12-15 is recommended), as it is more effective in a workshop format that encourages discussion and shared experience, which fosters learning, skills development, resilience, and personal growth.

The workshops are best delivered to less than 12 people.


DELIVERY MODE

Face-to-face is definitely the recommended mode of delivery as it encourages discussion and also positively impacts the reduction of stigma around mental health concerns through engaging in a shared learning experience. However, each can potentially be delivered as a seminar to a larger group if needed. We are also able to deliver via Zoom or pre-record any of the above sessions for dissemination to a broader network of employees.


COSTS

1-hour sessions are available for $500;
1.5 hour sessions are available for $750;
Half day sessions are available for $1,500;
Full day sessions are available for $2,500.
